Museum Reina Sofia

We visited a very important museum in Madrid. From the outside it is a very large building with glass windows. We saw many paintings that are from Spain and which are painted by very famous artists for example Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. There were a lot of important paintings from these artists and we learned the history behind them. The famous Picasso painting Guernica  represents and consciences the civil war of Spain. It is one of the most important paintings that he made for Spain.

Temple of Debod

The Temple of Debod was a gift from the Egyptions to Spain in 1968 in compensation for Spanish assistance following the international appeal made by UNESCO to save the temples of Nubia. It is located on a small hill that has a very impresive view of the city of Madrid. The orientation of this temple is the same as it was when it was in Egypt. It is oriented towards the sun.

Main Square

The main square is located in the center of Madrid and it is a very touristy place. When you enter this area you can see a lot of people eating, drinking, shopping our just enjoying the views. It has a very beautiful architecture that has a older style but the buildings were renewed so they are very beautiful. This is a very old square that has had many different names during the years.

Market San Miguel

When we were in Madrid we got hungry so we went to market San Miguel which is a building with a lot of shops that serve food. There are no full course meals there but small snacks with everything you want. They have fruit bowls, fried sea food, mocarella sandwitches, sweets, cakes, alchoholic beverages, sticks with olives, shrimp and meat on them, fish. Well as i said almost everything that you can imagine. The workers their are very polite and recomend the best food.

Puerta del Sol

This is a very popular and significant place in Madrid. The people of Spain have a tradition on New Years eve to go to this square and on the twelve last chimes from the clock, that represent the last twelve seconds of the year, eat twelve grapes. This square is always packed with people but it is worth seeing because it is very beautiful.

Gran Via Street

Gran Via street is the main street in Madrid and it has magnificant architecture and a lot of shops but the most popular street Preciados is right next to it. Preciados street is a tourist street because of the wide range of shops that are on it. It is very impresive and intriguing to see all the shops and the different people that come there.

Retiro Park

The park is very big and beautiful as well as has beautiful trees and bushes. The park also has some architecture buildings ranging from the 17th to the 21st century. The buildings are tourist attraction. One of the building is an art gallery that is displaying a Spanish woman´s work. There is a lot of history behind the painting that was described on the walls of the gallery.  The other building that we visited was Crystal Palace that was made out of glass windows. In the palace there were many different styles of art that were created by Carlos Bunga that were made as a protest against the extravagance of desire. It was very beautiful when we visited because the sun was setting.
